“An event was held on the topic: ‘Preventing Gambling Addiction: A Step Toward a Mindful Life’.”

On November 19, 2025, the Psychological Service and the Department of Kazakh, Russian, and Latin Languages organized a cognitive-psychological event on the topic “Preventing Gambling Addiction: A Step Toward a Mindful Life” for the VM-SQA-03-25 and VM-SQB-03-25 groups.
Today, interest in and addiction to gambling among young people is one of the pressing issues frequently encountered in society. Gambling addiction (ludomania) is a dangerous disorder in which a person becomes psychologically dependent on gambling, distancing themselves from real life and losing their time, financial resources, and social connections.
In this regard, the main goal of the event was to increase students’ psychological literacy, explain the psychological and social consequences of gambling, and demonstrate ways to prevent addiction.
During the event, participants received explanations about the signs of gambling addiction, its causes, and its psychological effects. With the help of specially prepared video materials and informational booklets, the impact of gambling on a person’s psyche was discussed in depth. Additionally, students received practical advice on developing a mindful lifestyle, managing emotions, and using their time effectively.
Based on the results of the “TAKER” test, specialists from the Psychological Service provided group psychological counseling and offered recommendations for addiction prevention.
At the end of the event, students shared their thoughts and emphasized the importance of preventing gambling addiction and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
