Implementation of an international academic mobility program

In the spring semester of 2026, the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry hosted an academic mobility program for B. A. Kairova, a faculty member of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
As part of the program, the visiting lecturer delivered a comprehensive educational agenda, including laboratory and practical classes, supervised independent student work (SIWT), as well as lectures and master classes for students enrolled in the “Pharmacy” educational program.
The topics covered during the sessions encompassed key areas of pharmaceutical and toxicological chemistry. Particular emphasis was placed on pharmacopoeial analysis of medicinal products, quality assessment of pharmaceutical substances and finished dosage forms in accordance with current regulatory requirements. The sessions also addressed modern approaches to impurity profiling, purity testing, and quantitative analysis of medicinal compounds using titrimetric methods, along with specific aspects of analyzing heterocyclic derivatives (including pyrrole, pyrazole, imidazoline, triazole, and others).

A dedicated module focused on ensuring the quality and safety of medicinal products in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, which are essential for developing the professional competencies of future pharmaceutical specialists.
The practice-oriented nature of the visit was further enhanced through master classes and lectures delivered by leading faculty members of the host department on extraction techniques and the study of biologically active compounds derived from medicinal plant raw materials. In particular, approaches to the isolation and analysis of biologically active substances from Artemisia viridis Willd. and walnut species native to the Kyrgyz Republic were discussed.

Throughout the program, B. A. Kairova actively applied modern teaching methodologies, fostering the development of students’ analytical thinking, practical laboratory skills, and their ability to apply acquired knowledge in professional settings.
This academic visit made a significant contribution to the development of academic cooperation between the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. It facilitated the exchange of expertise, enhanced the quality of the educational process, and strengthened inter-institutional collaboration.
The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry expresses its sincere gratitude to B. A. Kairova for her productive cooperation and valuable contribution to the training of future pharmaceutical professionals.
