
The official opening ceremony of the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Infectious Diseases of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Central Asia” was held at the Ramada Hotel in Shymkent. The significant international event brought together national and international scientists, infectious disease specialists, epidemiologists, and healthcare professionals. Opening remarks were delivered by Zhanna Serikzhanovna Seitzhanova, Rector of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy; Inna Mikhailovna Glazebnaya, Deputy Head of the Shymkent City Health Department; Academician E. I. Musabayev, Director of the Institute of Virology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; and D. A. Bayesheva, Chairperson of the Republican Public Association for Infectious Diseases.

They welcomed the participants and wished them a productive conference. During the plenary session, current issues related to infectious diseases were discussed. As part of the conference, leading experts from the United States, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and various regions of Kazakhstan presented scientific reports and shared their professional experience. The conference featured presentations by renowned scientists and professors, including M.A. Smagul (Astana), B.N. Kosherova (Karaganda), N.Yu. Pshenichnaya (Russia), A.M. Kuatbayeva (Almaty), S.S. Sarsenbayeva (Almaty), T.V. Kosenkova (Saint Petersburg), G.N. Abuova (Shymkent), Hakan Leblebicioglu (Türkiye), A.K. Duisenova (Almaty), and Mohammad Sajadi (USA). The conference was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, the Republican Public Association for Infectious Diseases of Kazakhstan, the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, and the Public Association “Independent Healthcare Experts Association of South Kazakhstan”. The conference continued with sectional sessions. Within the framework of the scientific forum, leading researchers, experienced physicians, and healthcare professionals discussed pressing issues in infectious diseases and exchanged knowledge and best practices.
