
On 12 November 2025, Astana hosted the Elsevier Kazakhstan International Research Conference 2025, dedicated to ethics, integrity, and the digital transformation of research processes in the era of artificial intelligence. The conference was attended by PhD, Head of the Department for Coordination and Development of Academic Journals, Dana Sapargalikyzy Bekaryssova.
The event opened with welcome remarks from Gulzat Kobenova, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Floortje Flippo, Regional Vice President at Elsevier. The plenary session drew significant attention to presentations on Kazakhstan’s scientific development priorities and the future of research, including talks by Aliya Sembayeva and Asylkhan Bibossinov, who outlined key directions of national science policy. A notable highlight was the presentation by Marat Fatkhullin (Elsevier) on the role of artificial intelligence and data analytics in shaping evidence-based science policy.
Parallel sessions addressed topics related to international scientific cooperation, the digitalization of academic publishing, and modern approaches to managing research activities. Additionally, a workshop for editors of Scopus-indexed journals was held, focusing on strategies for journal development and practical solutions to common editorial challenges.
Participation in the conference provided valuable insights into current trends in scholarly communication, digital tools, and ethical standards, while also strengthening professional connections and facilitating the exchange of experience with members of the international research community.
