The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA) held a themed advisory session focused on key aspects of academic integrity, anti-corruption culture, and social issues within the student community.
During the event, curators and students discussed the operating principles of the League of Academic Integrity, as well as the roles of the compliance department and the compliance officer in fostering a transparent and objective educational environment at the academy. Particular attention was paid to the strict adherence to principles of integrity when completing academic, research, and laboratory assignments, as well as to mechanisms for providing feedback and protecting the rights of students.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed significant social and ethical issues, including the prevention of and response to bullying, as well as matters of gender equality and mutual respect within the academic community. Students from the department’s supervised groups participated very actively: they prepared substantive presentations, delivered remarks, and took part in an open discussion, sharing their perspectives on developing a strong legal and ethical culture for future pharmacy professionals.
Holding such events helps foster a zero-tolerance approach toward corruption, shapes corporate ethics, and creates a safe, supportive environment for the comprehensive development and education of future pharmacists and pharmaceutical specialists.
