
On April 7, 2026, the Department of Family Medicine, together with City Polyclinic No. 1 of Shymkent, held a scientific and practical conference titled “Current Issues in Family Medicine” dedicated to Science Day.
The main purpose of the event was to discuss актуальные issues in family medicine, exchange experience, and enhance the scientific potential of young professionals.
In order to prepare young people for independent engagement in science and to increase their competitiveness in the modern global environment, and in accordance with the multilingual education policy, the conference was conducted in three languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English.
The opening remarks were delivered by the conference moderator, Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh. A. Kauyzbay, who gave the floor to the distinguished guests.
Among the honored guests were the Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Cooperation of SKMA, Alma Abdukarimovna Akhmetova, and the Dean of the Medical Faculty, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Nursing, Aizat Ashimkhanovna Seidakhmetova. In their speeches, they congratulated the participants on Science Day and wished them success.

The first presentation was delivered by the Deputy Chief Physician of City Polyclinic No. 1, Darikha Tavakalovna Kazakhbayeva, on the topic “Current Issues in the Practice of a Family Doctor.” The presentations were then continued in three languages by interns of the Department of Family Medicine and doctors of the city polyclinic.
The topics of the presentations covered a wide range of issues in family medicine, including modern approaches to organizing primary healthcare, management of chronic diseases, the importance of preventive medicine, improvement of screening programs, and patient-centered care.
Particular interest was generated by presentations on ischemic heart disease, monitoring patients with diabetes, early diagnosis of oncological diseases, prevention of complications, and the global issue of antibiotic resistance. In addition, the implementation of digital technologies in healthcare, the use of telemedicine, and ways to improve the quality of medical services were widely discussed.
During the conference, there was active exchange of opinions among participants, with questions and suggestions raised for each presentation. This contributed to the development of an open scientific dialogue and enhanced critical thinking skills. Such interaction undoubtedly promotes the integration of science and practice.
At the end of the conference, participants summarized their views and made a number of proposals for the further development of family medicine.
In the closing session, the Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhumaly Aripbayuly Kauyzbay, Associate Professor Nazipa Shakmanovna Bektibayeva, and the Assistant responsible for scientific work Kumisai Kuldyrakovna Atashova delivered closing remarks and awarded the speakers with certificates of appreciation.
