Formation of a Culture of Academic Integrity in the Higher Education System

The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry conducted an introductory meeting with students dedicated to the issues of academic integrity and the role of the Academic Integrity League in the higher education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the event, students were introduced to the main principles, goals, and significance of implementing integrity standards in educational and scientific processes, as well as their connection with the formation of professional ethics among future pharmaceutical specialists.

As part of the discussion, the presentation materials were reviewed in detail, including the mission and objectives of the Academic Integrity League. Special attention was paid to the League’s key areas of activity: combating plagiarism, ensuring objective and transparent assessment of knowledge, improving the quality of education, and fostering a culture of zero tolerance toward academic misconduct. Students were also informed about the fundamental principles of academic integrity, including student responsibility, proper citation practices, and adherence to ethical standards.

In addition, practical aspects of implementing academic integrity at SKMA were discussed, including the use of anti-plagiarism systems and modern technologies for knowledge assessment. The meeting contributed to students’ understanding of the importance of honest learning as the foundation of their future professional activities, while also strengthening the values of integrity, transparency, and respect for intellectual property.
