From Acquired Knowledge to Practical Application

From 08.06.-19.2026, in accordance with the order of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy N529 "On referral for an internship", an internship in the discipline "Pharmacognosy" was held for 3rd year students of the Pharmacy educational program.
5 students, led by the head of the Department of Drug Technology and Pharmacognosy, Toхanbayeva Zh.S., completed an internship at the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute, a partner university of SKMA, with which we have decades of fruitful cooperation. In this regard, this component of the educational process is of particular importance, as it represents an important stage that opens a direct path to international recognition and professional development of future pharmacists.
During the internship, students thoroughly familiarized themselves with the flora of the North Caucasus, skills in collecting, drying and herbarization of medicinal plants and plant raw materials. They also improved their skills in flora survey, field analysis, and acceptance and commodity analysis rules. During the cultural component, an excursion to the Museum of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and sightseeing of the Caucasian Mineral Waters were organized for the students of the SKMA.
