Within the framework of the implementation of the double-degree educational program between the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy and the First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov (Sechenov University, SU), successful training of specialists at the level of scientific and pedagogical master's degree in the direction of "Pharmaceutical Ecology" continues within the framework of the ЕP "Pharmacy" (SKMA) and ЕР "Biotechnology" (SU). To date, under this program, 4 master's students have successfully defended their master's dissertations at a meeting of the certification committee at the Institute of Pharmacy named after A. P. Nelyubin of Sechenov University.
Pharmaceutical ecology is a part of applied ecology and is designed to ensure environmental safety in the field of circulation of medicines, to solve problems arising in the process of pharmaceutical activity. One of the reasons for the presence of residues of medicinal substances in the environment, in particular in food products, is the uncontrolled use of veterinary drugs in animal husbandry. If the terms of elimination of drugs from the body of animals are not observed, their residues can remain in meat, milk and eggs, which poses a risk to the health of consumers and requires strict control and monitoring.
SKMA Master's student Abdukarimov K.S. conducted research on food products, in particular dairy products, for the content of drug residues. These studies were preceded by numerous searches in the development of reliable methods for sample preparation, detection and quantitative determination of drugs in the objects under study. The results of the study were published in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, an application for an invention was filed, an author's certificate and three acts of implementation in the educational process were received. Work in this direction will be continued.
The dissertation of Sechenov University Master's student Nwafor Valentine is devoted to the use of primary neuronal cultures obtained from various functional systems in vitro to study the mechanisms of neurodegenerative processes. As part of the study, a model was developed that allows more accurately reproducing pathological changes characteristic of neurodegenerative diseases, which opens up prospects for a deep understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of their development, as well as for testing potential neuroprotective agents.
The defense of the dissertations of the master's students took place at Sechenov University, following which the graduates received master's degrees in the field of "Pharmaceutical Ecology". Congratulations to our graduates - Abdukarimov Kamola and Nwafor Valentin on receiving diplomas from Sechenov University and South Kazakhstan Medical Academy!
We express our gratitude to all the employees of the Institute of Pharmacy named after A.P. Nelyubin of Sechenov University and SKMA for the development and implementation of such a relevant and promising two-degree educational program!
