A memorial evening titled “Innocently Wounded Heart” was held at the Youth Library of Shymkent, dedicated to May 31 – the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression.
The event was attended by teachers, students, and representatives of the intelligentsia and public. A special guest at the event was A.S. Zhakipova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Kazakh, Russian, and Latin Languages.
The evening was opened by the head of the library, R.B. Babazhanova, who addressed the guests and audience with heartfelt words, emphasizing the importance of remembering the tragic chapters of history and honoring the memory of those who suffered unjust repression.
Journalist Sabyrbek Olzhabay from the South Kazakhstan newspaper took the floor and spoke about the difficult years endured by the Kazakh people and the tragedy of those times.
Historical recollections and reflections on the victims of repression were also shared by A.S. Zhakipova, a staff member of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy; Asiya Abdimominova, a teacher at the M. Tynyshpayev College of Transport; and Ilfa Kulmakhanova, Senior Lecturer at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University.
The speakers noted that the freedom and independence we enjoy today are the result of the heroic efforts and dedication of outstanding individuals. At the end of the event, letters of appreciation were presented to the invited guests.
