Meeting on the Formation of Academic Integrity and Anti-Corruption Culture

At the Department of “Hygiene and Epidemiology” of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, a meeting was held between Compliance Officer Nurgali Alikhanovich Pernebayev and 1st- and 4th-year students of the groups В-СТҚА-03-22, В-СТҚБ-03-22, В-СТҚА-04-22, В-СТҚБ-03-22, ВМ-МПІҚ-01-23/А1, ELITE GROUP ВМ-МО-14-25, as well as the faculty staff. The event was conducted in the format of a seminar on the topic “Academic Integrity.” During the meeting, issues related to the prevention of corruption risks in the educational process, as well as adherence to the principles of transparency and fairness during the examination session, were discussed. Nurgali Alikhanovich Pernebayev emphasized the importance of developing an anti-corruption culture among students and faculty members and also reminded participants of the responsibility for violating the norms of academic ethics. It was separately noted that the academy has submitted an application to join the Academic Integrity League, which is an important step toward strengthening the principles of integrity, objectivity, and openness within the educational environment. As part of the meeting, students and teachers were reminded about the existing feedback and anti-corruption mechanisms. Suggestion boxes operate in the academic buildings, regular surveys are conducted through the Platonus system, and feedback is collected from students and faculty members. In addition, the academy’s compliance officer remains open to dialogue and consideration of appeals from students and staff. At the end of the meeting, the seminar participants were able to ask questions of interest and discuss current topics related to ensuring honesty, fairness, and transparency in the educational process.
