As part of the outbound academic mobility program, from May 4 to May 16, 2026, the heads of the following departments: “Microbiology, Immunology, and Allergology,” Dr. Med., Professor Bibigul Tolegenovna Seytkhanova, and “Emergency Medicine and Nursing,” Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Aizat Ashimkhanovna Seidakhmetova, took part in an international internship at one of Turkey’s leading universities, Ankara University of Medical Sciences. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen academic cooperation, exchange experience in the field of medical education, and develop competencies in modern educational and clinical technologies.
Ankara University of Medical Sciences was founded in 1903 in Ankara and Istanbul and has a history spanning more than 120 years. It is the first specialized state university of medical sciences in Turkey with official authorization to establish schools and institutes abroad. In addition to civilian and non-civilian students, the University of Medical Sciences also accepts military students studying on behalf of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as foreign military students. There are 10 students from Kazakhstan studying at the Faculty of Military Medicine.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Nursing, which are recognized as the best in the medical community, boasting the most qualified and experienced physicians and nursing professionals, all of whom have received training in both basic medical sciences and clinical fields. The curriculum allows students to develop professional and clinical skills, providing them with a medical education focused on developing research and analytical abilities, grounded in ethical principles.

During the academic exchange, Seytkhanova Bibigul Tolegenovna and Seidakhmetova Aizat Ashimkhanovna visited the rector, Professor Kemalettin Aydin, in his office during their visit to the Gülhane campus. They familiarized themselves with Turkey’s higher medical education system, participated in training and methodological sessions, and conducted joint classes and discussions with colleagues from the Turkish university. Particular attention was paid to the integration of digital technologies into teaching, digital platforms and electronic resources, interdisciplinary modules, and the integration of science into the educational process. Meetings were held at the university with the rector, vice rectors, deans of faculties, and the chief physician of the clinic to discuss plans within the framework of the memorandum signed between the universities.
The university clinic hosted an exchange of best practices on student clinical training, competency assessment, and feedback methods. It is worth noting the high level of organization of the educational process, the practice-oriented approach, and the interest of our Turkish colleagues in developing international cooperation.
At the SBÜ Gülhane Clinic, 4th- to 6th-year students from all faculties complete practical training at the outpatient clinic, inpatient wards, and departments including oncology, transplantology, gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, and others.
In addition, the visit included discussions on the prospects for joint educational and research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and the organization of online courses and international conferences. Following the mobility program, participants noted the high level of professional training among their Turkish colleagues, the modern infrastructure, and the readiness for active international collaboration. As a result of the discussions, plans were formulated for conducting joint research and organizing inter-university scientific events.
On May 15, a parade and the grand opening of SBÜ SPORFEST’26 were held on the university campus. Led by the rector, Professor Dr. Kemallettin Aydın, faculty, administrative staff, and students took part in the colorful procession.
Following the academic mobility program, agreements were reached on further cooperation, including the implementation of joint educational projects, scientific research, and student and faculty exchanges.
