Project defense by students of english-medium groups of SKMA on demyelinating diseases of the nervous system

At the Department of neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and neurosurgery of the South Kazakhstan medical academy, a regular project defense was held by students of the English-medium groups B-ZHMSHA-05-20, B-ZHMSHA-06-20, B-ZHMSHA-07-20, and B-ZHMSHA-08-20. The topics of the presented projects were devoted to demyelinating diseases of the nervous system, in particular multiple sclerosis and Guillain–Barré syndrome.
During the event, students presented projects reflecting modern concepts of the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of demyelinating diseases. The works addressed issues of early diagnosis, the use of advanced neuroimaging techniques, immunomodulatory therapy, as well as current approaches to the medical rehabilitation of patients.
The project defense was attended by faculty members of the department — PhD, T.V. Polukchi; candidate of medical sciences, G.A. Mustapayeva; PhD, S.K. Yerkebayeva; and assistant A.A. Yessetova. The instructors carefully evaluated the presented studies, actively participated in discussions, and provided professional recommendations aimed at enhancing students’ clinical thinking and scientific training.
The students demonstrated a high level of theoretical knowledge, a solid understanding of modern scientific concepts and clinical aspects of multiple sclerosis and Guillain–Barré syndrome, as well as the ability to analyze current challenges and promising directions in the treatment of demyelinating diseases of the nervous system. The project defense became a significant stage in the educational process, contributing to the development of skills in scientific analysis, public speaking, and professional communication. The event also stimulated students’ interest in a deeper study of neurology and contemporary advances in the field of neuroscience.
