The students visited the museum

On February 25, 2026, students of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, group VM-PKA-01-25, visited the Museum of Victims of Political Repressions. The excursion was very informative and left a strong impression on the students.
The students carefully examined all the museum’s exhibitions. They saw over 16,000 items, documents, and photographs from the museum’s collection, reflecting the history of political repressions in Kazakhstan. Particularly interesting were:
1. Biographies and portraits of the leaders of the “Alash” movement and the Kazakh intelligentsia;
2. Photographs, documents, and materials about the mass repressions of the 1930s (the so-called “Red Terror”);
3. Exhibitions dedicated to exile, deportations, and labor camps, including a map of camps in Kazakhstan;
4. Interrogation scenes and reconstructions of repressive methods, which helped convey the fear and hardships of that time;
5. Lists of victims, including prominent figures and women, with portraits and biographies;
6. Materials on the tragic events of 1986 (Zheltoksan) as part of the overall history of political persecution.
At the center of the hall was an artistic sculptural composition called “Repression,” symbolizing the suffering of people during the repressions. All exhibits and installations helped students gain a deeper understanding of history and realize the scale of the tragedies.
The excursion contributed to expanding historical knowledge, fostering respect for the past, and developing a sense of civic responsibility. The students left with a deep impression and an understanding of the importance of preserving the memory of the victims of political repressions.
