On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, teachers and students of the Department of General Education disciplines visited the memorial complex ‘Danq’, located in the park named after Abay, and honoured the memory of the fallen. The teachers K.B. Akhtaeva and N.T. Aidyngali told that the obelisk 35 metres high, symbolising the unity of front and rear, as well as the ‘eternal flame’ under it were installed in 1979. The names of about 140 thousand soldiers who went to the front from the south of the country are engraved on the black slabs. In the centre of the Alley of Glory there is a monument ‘Star’, on the red granite of which the names of 51 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 8 full cavaliers of the Order of Glory who came from the southern region are engraved.
For us, the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War are a model of courage and heroism. We are obliged to keep the memory of their exploits. This is our small but important sign of respect and gratitude!
