Organized by the Department of Kazakh, Russian, and Latin Languages of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, a literary reading competition titled “Homeland! Nature! Mother Earth!” was held in honor of May 1st – the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the university’s Vice-Rector for Educational and Social Affairs, Yerbol Salim, who highlighted the significance of this holiday.
A special feature of this contest was that only representatives of other ethnic groups took part. According to the rules, participants recited poems by Kazakh poets and writers from memory and explained their meanings.
As a result, Artem Vladimirovich Hegai, a student of group VM-SOB-06-24, won first place with his recitation of Mukagali Makatayev’s poem “To the Native Land.”
Second place was shared by Ayush Singh from group VM-MShB-02-23 with Kasym Amanzholov’s poem “Native Land” and Sarvinoz Agzamzhanovna Raimberdieva from group VM-MOA-06-24 with Mukagali Makatayev’s “Three Happinesses.”
Third place went to Tehreem Khan from group VM-MShA-12-23 for her recitation of Makatayev’s poem “Nature” and Diana Shavkatovna Rasulmatova from group VM-MOA-06-24 with the poem “At the Border” by the same author.
