
As part of the academic mobility program and the implementation of a joint international scientific and technical project, the Department of Infectious Diseases of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy was visited from May 4 to May 8, 2026, by Mohammad Sajadie, Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
During the visit, together with the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, MD, Professor Abuova G.N., Associate Professor Berdalieva F.A., and Head of the Laboratory Yurikova O.Yu., a series of complex laboratory investigations were carried out to study the identification of antibodies to the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever virus and the mechanisms of their protective activity. These studies represent an important component of the joint scientific work aimed at improving approaches to the diagnosis and prevention of CCHF in endemic regions of Kazakhstan.
Special attention during the visit was devoted to educational activities and the exchange of international experience. Professor Mohammad Sajadie conducted practical classes and scientific discussions with 4th-year undergraduate students of the General Medicine Faculty. The sessions focused on the latest global scientific advances in the field of highly dangerous, natural focal, and zoonotic infections, as well as promising directions in the development of infectious disease medicine and molecular diagnostics.
The visit of the American professor became an important milestone in strengthening international cooperation, enhancing the scientific potential of the department, and expanding the academic collaboration of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy with leading international scientific and educational centers.
