Gulzakhira Turebekova, Acting Associate Professor of the Department of Chemical Disciplines, Biology and Biochemistry at Toregeldy Sharmanov National Medical University, successfully completed the academic mobility program. The total duration of the academic mobility was 72 hours at the Department of General and Biological Chemistry.
The goal of academic mobility was to exchange pedagogical and methodological experience, improve professional competencies, study the organization of the educational process at the host university, and develop inter university cooperation.
As part of academic mobility, lectures and practical classes were held on the subjects “Inorganic Chemistry” and “Medical Chemistry” for first year students of the following educational programs: “Pharmacy”, “Medicine”, “Pediatrics”, and “Medical and Preventive Care”.
The lectures discussed the theoretical foundations of inorganic and medicinal chemistry, the biological role of chemical elements, the patterns of chemical processes in the human body, the colligative properties of solutions, osmosis, osmotic pressure, plasmolysis, hemolysis, acid-base processes, acidosis, alcoholosis, pH-hydrogen index, buffer solutions, as well as the significance of the knowledge gained for medicine and pharmacy.
The practical classes included solving calculation and situational problems, performing chemical experiments (“Properties of p, d elements”, “Preparation of solutions of different concentrations”), analyzing the obtained results, and discussing professionally oriented issues. During the classes, modern educational technologies were used: problem based learning; situational and professionally oriented tasks; individual and group work; digital educational resources.

Thus, the work carried out contributed to improving the quality of teaching in chemical disciplines, facilitating the exchange of advanced pedagogical experience, and promoting academic cooperation.
