
At the Department of “History of Kazakhstan and Socio-Political Disciplines,” a discussion took place on the article “The National Kurultai and the Role of Political Parties in Society.” Associate Professor of the department, Candidate of Historical Sciences S. M. Sakhov, published an article in the republican socio-political and historical-cognitive newspaper “Әділет. Рухани жаңғыру” titled “Do the Capabilities of Our Political Parties Correspond to the Formation of a New National Kurultai?” In his work, the author thoroughly analyzes the role of political parties in the society of Kazakhstan, the significance of the institution of the National Kurultai, as well as the opportunities and responsibilities of political parties in processes of social harmony and political modernization. The article extensively examines the content of contemporary political reforms, the development of civil society, the strengthening of democratic values, and the socio-political significance of the activities of the National Kurultai. The author emphasizes the need to increase the activity of political parties in the direction of preserving national identity, strengthening public dialogue, and reinforcing the connection between the people and the government. This publication aroused great interest among the department’s faculty and students and became the basis for a meaningful discussion. During the debate, participants exchanged views on the processes of political modernization in the country, the formation of new social institutions, the development of civic responsibility, and political culture. The special relevance of the ideas raised in the article for modern Kazakh society was also noted.
The department staff emphasized that such scientific, educational, and socio-political materials contribute to the formation of historical consciousness among youth, the strengthening of civic engagement, and the broadening of perspectives on the country’s development.
