A Meeting on the Topic “The Internet Is Not a Religious Teacher” Was Held


An informational meeting was held at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy aimed at increasing religious literacy among young people, explaining ethno-policy, and preventing the spread of the ideology of destructive religious movements.

As part of the event entitled “The Internet Is Not a Religious Teacher,” specialists in the relevant field held an open discussion with young people and addressed a number of important issues.

The meeting was attended by Abbas Shamirzayev, a member of the Mediation Council under the KGU “Kogamdyk kelisim” and a professional mediator, as well as Samat Shokanuly Ualikhanov, a theologian at the KGU “Center for the Study of Religious Issues” under the Shymkent City Department for Religious Affairs.

During the meeting, the specialists explained the importance of interethnic and interfaith harmony, responsible perception of religious information, and the ability to critically assess the reliability of information available on the Internet.

The participants were also provided with useful information on the importance of critically evaluating religious content shared on social media, avoiding questionable religious resources, and preventing the influence of destructive religious movements.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to ask questions of interest and receive clear answers from the specialists.
