On October 7, 2025, as part of the educational process, an interuniversity scientific discussion round table (SSS) for general practice interns (GPI) was held online. Interns of the 6th and 7th years and scientific supervisors from the following institutions took part in the event: «Astana Medical University» (NSC), «South Kazakhstan Medical Academy» (JSC), «»Karaganda Medical University» (NSC), «Semey Medical University» (NSC).

The topic of the round table was both highly relevant and engaging: “GERD: Modern Approaches to Diagnosis and Treatment.” From the Department of “General Practitioner – 2,” the following 6th-year groups participated: IGPIK -12-25, IGPIK-20-25, IGPIK-21-25, and IGPIK-22-25. The opening speech was delivered by Professor G.N. Dosybaeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the “GPI-2” Department.
Under the scientific supervision of the Master of Medical Sciences of the Departciences-2 R.A. Smetova, an intern of group IGPIK-21-25, Akerke Ubaidina, presented a report on the “Etiopathogenesis, Epidemiology, and Classification of GERD”.

During the round table, the presenter A. Ubaidina thoroughly covered the issues of the etiology and pathogenesis of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). Relying on research findings from both domestic and international studies, she provided an analytical overview of recent scientific data on the relevance of GERD and the modern approaches to its classification used worldwide, including in Kazakhstan.

Interns also listened to the presentations of representatives from other universities, which addressed the clinical manifestations of GERD in adults and children, as well as the latest diagnostic methods and contemporary treatment strategies.
Following the presentations, an active discussion took place during which interns and professors asked questions, exchanged opinions, and shared their own experiences in observing patients with GERD. This discussion contributed to a deeper understanding of the topic, the development of clinical thinking, and the formation of professional competencies among future general practitioners.

The event was held in an atmosphere of scientific interest and collaboration between representatives of different medical universities.
It promoted the exchange of experience between interns, encouraged professional discussion, and allowed participants to expand their knowledge of the management of patients with GERD. Furthermore, the event fostered the development of research and communication competencies among interns, stimulating their interest in scientific work and independent study of current clinical topics.
