Activities on Health Promotion and Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Among Students

In April–May 2026, informational and educational meetings and awareness lectures were held in several educational institutions under the Department of Education of Shymkent city. The events were aimed at protecting students’ health, improving safety awareness, developing psychological resilience, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The events were attended by the Head and assistants of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Nursing — Aizat Ashimkhanovna Seidakhmetova, Bekzat Mynbayuly Erimbet, Zhanyl Baurzhanovna Beknazarova, Zhanat Sarsenovna Sultanova, and Umida Abdyvalievna Khodzhakulova. They organized informative meetings with students of grades 9–11 at Secondary School No. 56 named after S. Kobeyev, Secondary School No. 29 named after Aliya Moldagulova, Secondary School No. 34 named after Gagarin, and School-Gymnasium No. 50 named after Akhmet Baitursynov.
During the meetings, students were taught first aid skills, appropriate actions in emergency situations, methods of preventing bullying and psychological pressure, and ways to create a respectful and safe environment among teenagers. In addition, within the framework of the theme “Healthy Generation – Bright Future,” the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, preventing harmful habits, and developing proper life values was widely discussed.
Special attention during the lectures was given to suicide prevention among adolescents, strengthening family values, and the importance of trustful relationships between parents and children. Students received useful information about psychological support, the importance of seeking help during difficult situations, and maintaining emotional stability.
Furthermore, within the topic “A Day in the Life of a Doctor,” the significance and responsibility of the medical profession were explained, and guidance was provided regarding future career choices. Educational discussions were also conducted on important issues related to adolescents’ reproductive and mental health, including the harmful effects of alcoholism, drug addiction, ludomania, and gambling.
At the end of the meetings, students asked questions of interest and openly exchanged opinions with the specialists. Such meaningful events help increase teenagers’ responsibility for their health and positively influence the development of their outlook on life. The staff of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Nursing expresses sincere gratitude to the school principals and teachers for their support in organizing and conducting these educational lectures.
