Cyber Hygiene – The Foundation of Digital Security

As part of “September – National Cybersecurity Month,” a methodological event entitled “Cyber Hygiene – The Foundation of Digital Security” was organized on September 21 for students of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.

The purpose of the event was to improve students’ digital literacy, raise awareness of online threats, develop personal data protection skills, and prevent cybercrime.

The event was organized and moderated by Aibek Nurpeisov, Digital Officer of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.

During the meeting, specialists delivered presentations on a number of important topics:

Bakhytzhan Bekbayev, Police Captain and operational officer of the Cybercrime Counteraction Department of the Shymkent City Police Department, delivered a presentation on “Internet Fraud.” He explained the most common methods used by fraudsters and ways to protect against them. Representatives of the Police Department also demonstrated video materials aimed at preventing internet fraud and, using real-life cases, emphasized the importance of complying with cybersecurity requirements.

Kurmangazy Muratov, Local Manager of Shymkent Hub, provided useful information on “Digital Hygiene: Improving Digital Literacy and Protecting Your Data” and shared practical recommendations for ensuring the security of personal data.

Sabyrzhan Arynbayev, a cybersecurity and information systems protection specialist at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, delivered a presentation entitled “Student and Digital Security: Cyber Hygiene in Everyday Life” and introduced students to the key principles of protection against cyber threats.

During the event, participants received important information on protection against internet fraud, the use of strong passwords, identifying suspicious links, social media security, and personal data protection.

Following cyber hygiene practices is one of the key conditions for maintaining security in the digital environment. The responsibility and vigilance of every user can help prevent cyber threats.

In addition, Aruzhan Alzhan, an official representative of the Department of Economic Investigations for the city of Shymkent, delivered a presentation on “Financial Literacy.”

Bakdaulet Zhumabay, Police Captain and Senior Operational Officer of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Shymkent City Police Department, delivered a presentation entitled “A Safe Environment: Bullying Prevention and Legal Responsibility.”
