Delegation from the Medical University of Gdańsk Shared Experience in Implementing the IDUB Program

Yesterday, a delegation from the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG), Poland, visited the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA). The delegation included Professor Tomasz Bonczek and Olga Hofmann. During their visit, the guests met with the academy’s leadership and faculty members, presenting the key directions and outcomes of the “Initiative of Excellence – Research University” (IDUB) program, implemented at MUG from 2019 to 2025.
The meeting focused on developing bilateral cooperation between the universities, sharing knowledge and scientific experience, and improving medical education programs. Of particular interest to SKMA staff were the structural and infrastructural changes, as well as the research conditions established under the IDUB program.

Additionally, the delegation reviewed support mechanisms for young scientists, employment strategies, and internal grant programs for scientific development. Meetings with researchers were also organized.
Tomorrow, based on the outcomes of the visit, a review will be conducted on proposals and opportunities for the strategic development of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy for 2026–2030, drawing on the experience gained from the IDUB program at the Medical University of Gdańsk. This event is expected to significantly influence the future direction of the academy and its international partnerships.
