English book club meetings

Head of the Hygiene and Epidemiology department, PhD, ass.professor Dariyana Kulmirzayeva, has been conducting monthly meetings of an English-language book club with the international students since September 2025.
The main goal of the book club is to develop students’ reading and analytical skills in English literature, improve their communicative competencies, and broaden the cultural outlook of future medical professionals.
To date, 7 meetings have been held, during which works of world literature were discussed, including E. Hemingway’s "The Old Man and the Sea", C. Brontë’s "Jane Eyre", F. S. Fitzgerald’s "The Great Gatsby", H. Lee’s "To Kill a Mockingbird", M. Zusak’s "The Book Thief", and others.
Each session was accompanied by active discussions: students exchanged opinions, analyzed plots and characters, answered questions, and demonstrated a high level of engagement. 
The club contributed to the development of language skills, critical and ethical thinking, as well as intercultural communication, comprehensive development of students.
