On April 29, 2026, the Department of Pediatrics-1 of NJSC “SKMA” jointly with Bashkir State Medical University organized an online experience-sharing event on the topic “Newborn Patronage.” Within the framework of this event, an informative and engaging scientific club meeting was held at a high level. The event was conducted in a warm and professional atmosphere, left positive impressions on the participants, and contributed to the development of academic cooperation.

Newborn patronage is an important component of primary health care. This process is carried out to preserve the child’s health during the first days and weeks of life, prevent diseases, and educate parents on infant care. High-quality organization of patronage directly affects the child’s future health indicators. The patronage service is provided by a district doctor and a nurse. The first examination is conducted during the first days after discharge from the maternity hospital. During the examination, the newborn’s general condition, skin condition, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, body weight, and developmental dynamics are assessed. In addition, the relationship between the mother and child, the correctness of breastfeeding, sleep and wakefulness routines, and living conditions are evaluated.

Parents are given specific recommendations on newborn care, umbilical cord care, hygiene procedures, and the prevention of skin diseases.
In conclusion, newborn patronage is one of the key stages in preserving and strengthening a child’s health. This service makes it possible to carry out timely diagnostics, prevent diseases, and improve the medical literacy of parents.
