Fostering Academic Culture: A Pastoral Hour Was Held at the Department of Chemical Disciplines, Biology, and Biochemistry

T. O. Abdirova, a lecturer at the Department of Chemical Disciplines, Biology and Biochemistry of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, held an educational hour on the topic "Code of Academic Integrity" for 1st and 2nd-year students.
The event was attended by K. N. Daurenbekov, acting professor and head of the Department of Chemical Disciplines, Biology and Biochemistry, as well as senior lecturers and 1st and 2nd-year students. During the event, students received detailed explanations of the core principles defined in the code, such as anti-corruption, integrity, transparency, honesty, responsibility, fairness, and zero tolerance for violations of academic integrity. The head of the department, acting professor K. N. Daurenbekov, also delivered a speech regarding the code of ethics.
Furthermore, discussions covered plagiarism, corrupt behavior, the submission of false information, and other types of violations, along with their severity levels and consequences. Students were reminded of their duties to perform their work independently, properly cite sources, refrain from using forbidden tools during exams, and strictly observe ethical standards. The accountability measures applied in the event of code violations were also outlined.
