Honesty in Learning and Examinations as the Foundation of Professional Responsibility

On October 2, 2016, an event dedicated to academic integrity was held at the Department of Emergency Medicine and Nursing at JSC “South Kazakhstan Medical Academy,” with the participation of interns, bachelor’s students, and the department’s teaching staff.
The event highlighted the importance of maintaining honesty throughout the learning process and during examinations. Completing assignments independently, acknowledging sources, avoiding plagiarism and respecting the work of others are essential practices that reflect students’ responsibility.
Honesty during examinations enables a fair assessment of knowledge. Students should rely on their own knowledge, refrain from cheating, avoid unauthorised materials and electronic devices, and complete examinations without assistance from others.
Integrity is particularly important for future healthcare professionals. Responsibility and sound knowledge developed during education provide a foundation for appropriate professional decisions and patient safety.
