Integration of Fundamental Disciplines: Open Lecture for 1st-Year Pharmacy Students

On September 29.2026, Turebekova GulzakhiraAndasovna, acting associate professor at the Department of Chemical Disciplines, Biology and Biochemistry, delivered an open lecture to firstyear students majoring in Pharmacy (group ВFO0226). The discipline is “Inorganic Chemistry”; the lecture topic is “The Theory of Solutions. Colligative Properties of Solutions.”
During the lecture, the classification and concentration of solutions, solubility, colligative properties, osmotic pressure, isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic solutions were discussed.She created problembased learning (PBL) scenarios involving 20 % and 5 % glucose solutions and the incorrect preparation of 0.3 % NaCl instead of 0.9 %. She clearly explained the phenomena of osmosis, hemolysis, and plasmolysis. She constructed a causal chain: a hypotonic solution → water enters the red blood cells → the cells swell → the risk of hemolysis → the cause is related to the difference in osmotic pressure. This is a good example of integrating chemistry + physiology + pharmacy. The use of problembased situations contributed to the development of logical thinking, the consolidation of theoretical knowledge, and the formation of professional competencies in future pharmacists.
The deputy dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Acting Associate Professor M.M. Sapakbay, the head of the department, Acting Professor K.N. Daurenbekov, and the teaching staff of the department participated in the open lecture and gave their positive assessments.
