The teaching staff of the Department of neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation and neurosurgery at South Kazakhstan medical academy conducted an open educational session entitled “Integrity Hour” for fifth-year students of the General Medicine educational programme, groups VM-MKA-05-22, VM-MKB-05-22, and VM-MKA-06-22.
The purpose of the event was to explain the key principles of the Academic Integrity Code, foster an anti-corruption culture, and enhance the professional responsibility of future physicians.

The session was conducted in an interactive format, with a particular focus on medical education and clinical practice. The students discussed various violations of academic integrity, including plagiarism, cheating during examinations, falsification of research results, and the inclusion of inaccurate or unverified information in medical records.
During the discussion of clinical and ethical cases, the participants proposed possible solutions to various professional situations. Particular attention was paid to accurate and reliable medical record-keeping, the inadmissibility of concealing errors, seeking timely advice from more experienced specialists, and prioritising patient safety.
The open dialogue emphasised that academic integrity is not merely a requirement of the educational process but also an integral part of a physician’s professional culture. The principle “An honest student today – a responsible physician tomorrow” reflects the importance of honesty, responsibility, and patient trust in future medical practice.
