JSC “SKMA” representatives took part in the International Bioethics Forum

On December 12, 2025, an international forum for members of local bioethics commissions was organized at Astana Medical University with the participation of leading domestic and foreign experts in the field of bioethics.

During the event, the ethical challenges of new technologies, the requirements of bioethics in conducting biomedical and clinical research, as well as issues of ensuring the integrity of scientific research were widely discussed. Professor Gerrit Post made a presentation on the formation of national bioethics standards. Chairman of the Central Commission on Bioethics of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor K.A. Ergaliev, highlighted the role of ethical committees in ensuring research integrity and presented the annual report on the activities of the Central Commission on Bioethics for 2024-2025.

In addition, topical issues of certification of local bioethics commissions, regulation of biomedical research, as well as the role of ethical commissions in conducting clinical research were discussed. Presentations in these areas were made by Professors Nasyrova, Ph.D., Ph.D., Aniezova, O. Visternicha, and A. Kosumov. and other leading experts.
During the forum, representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan shared their national experience in the development and implementation of bioethics.
The forum was attended by representatives of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy: chairman of the local bioethics commission Kauyzbai Zhumaly Aripbayuli and Secretary of the commission Tursynali Akerke Zhanabaikyzy, who exchanged experiences on topical issues of the industry.

Summing up the report on the topic "Certification of local bioethics commissions as a tool for improving the quality of ethical expertise", the Chairman of the NGO "Forum of Ethical Commissions of the Republic of Kazakhstan", Professor B.E. Sarymsakova, noted that local bioethics commissions work responsibly, and the differences in their activities are related to the level of formalization of the system. Certification is an important tool for improving the quality and alignment of ethical expertise across the country. In the future, the importance of developing a quality assurance and control system, implementing KPIs, digitalizing and professionalizing the work of commissions was emphasized.


In his report "Creating a modern regulatory landscape for biomedical research: priorities and expected effects", Advisor to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Koikov V.V. outlined the key priorities for creating a modern regulatory system for biomedical research. The speaker noted the expected positive effects from the formation of an effective regulatory environment, compliance with international standards and improving the quality of ethical and scientific expertise.

In the second part of the forum, a special training session was held for members of the LCB. As part of the training, Professor A.E. Gaipov of Nazarbayev University conducted a master class on the topic of applying for grant funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Forum has become an important professional platform aimed at developing international cooperation in the field of bioethics, improving national bioethical standards and improving the ethical quality of research activities.
