On November 20, to mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mirzhakip Dulatov, a national hero who occupies a prominent place in the history of the Kazakh people, the founder of the Kazakh language, and a patriot who contributed to the creation of the Alash government, faculty from the Kazakh, Russian, and Latin departments held a literary evening dedicated to the poet's life and work.
"When I say 'Alash' from afar, I walk...
When I say 'Kazakh,' I am proud...
When my father is Kazakh, my mother is Kazakh...
Why am I afraid of Kazakhism?!" said the great Alash, who mourned the loss of the Kazakhs, grieved, and fought.
The opening speech at the literary evening was given by Salim Erbol Kaltursynuly, the Academy's Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Social Affairs. In every one of Mirzhakip's proverbs, we sense his boundless warmth and sincere love for his people. He took the first political steps toward addressing the issues of preserving Kazakh land, protecting the nation's interests, and developing education. The collection "Oyan-Kazakh" is one of his works, capturing the spirit of that era and exposing the tyranny of the tsarist regime. Participants read the poet's poems and wrote reports on his life and work.
