Currently, respiratory viral infections, including acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza, are among the most common infectious diseases in the population. During seasonal periods, the increase in morbidity becomes a significant issue for the public healthcare system.
In this regard, the Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kauyzbay Zhumaly Aripbayuly, organized an educational lecture on “Modern Methods of Diagnosing and Treating ARVI and Influenza” at Shymkent City Polyclinics No. 6 and No. 13. The main goal of the lecture was to enhance physicians’ clinical reasoning regarding ARVI and influenza, strengthen treatment strategies based on evidence-based medicine, and encourage the abandonment of excessive or ineffective treatment methods.
The lecture aimed to address complex questions frequently encountered in clinical practice and to discuss updates in treatment protocols. During the lecture, Zhumaly Aripbayuly provided extensive information about the transmission routes, causative agents, and clinical course of ARVI and influenza. Special attention was given to modern diagnostic and treatment methods. The effectiveness of annual influenza vaccination was emphasized. Scientific evidence shows that vaccination significantly reduces the severity of the illness, the risk of complications, and mortality.
At the end of the lecture, physicians exchanged opinions and discussed relevant questions they commonly face in practice. The participants highly appreciated the content of the lecture and noted that clarifying treatment tactics in accordance with current clinical guidelines is useful for their work.
Enhancing the professional competence of physicians in combating seasonal diseases such as ARVI and influenza is one of the key ways to protect public health.
