
Participation of Young Scientists from the Department of Infectious Diseases of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy in the IV International Congress of Infectious Disease Specialists On October 9–10, 2025, the IV International Congress of Infectious Disease Specialists titled “Infectious Diseases in the Context of Globalization: Challenges and Solutions” was held in Astana with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Astana Medical University, and the Public Association “Society of Infectious Disease Physicians.” The Congress became the largest scientific and practical platform for sharing experiences on the current epidemiological situation and modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, taking into account both national and international expertise. Young scientists from the Department of Infectious Diseases of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy represented the university with distinction in the Young Scientists Section. In the format of open public hearings, participants delivered presentations that attracted significant interest from the professional community. First-year resident A. Turakhmetova won 2nd place with her presentation titled “Lack of Awareness as a Risk Factor: Family Clusters of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever.”
First-year resident A. Narkhalova took 3rd place with her presentation titled “A Tropical Infection in a Non-Tropical Region: Malaria in Shymkent.”
It is important to note that the students’ success was made possible thanks to the scientific guidance and support of the faculty of the Department of Infectious Diseases — Head of the Department Professor G.N. Abuova and PhD Associate Professor F.A. Berdalieva.
