Production practice of foreign students at the base of SKMA

At the bases of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry and the Pharmaceutical Research Center, 5th-year students of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after A.K. Akhunbaev, within the framework of the academic mobility program, underwent production practice on the topic "Quality Control and Standardization of Medicines".
As part of the program, the students familiarized themselves with the structure of the academy, its activities, and the equipment of the educational and scientific laboratories of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry and the Pharmaceutical Research Center. During the practice, students conducted pharmacopoeial analysis of various medicinal products. In particular, they performed laboratory work on the evaluation of the quality of substances and medicines such as nicotinic acid, papaverine hydrochloride, tocopherol acetate, methyluracil ointment, paracetamol suppositories, and cyanocobalamin injection solution, among others. The practice involved chemical (nitritometry, iodometry, neutralization, etc.) and physicochemical methods (spectrophotometry, photocolorimetry, thin-layer chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, refractometry, polarimetry, etc.) to analyze medicinal products.

During the lectures and master classes, students learned about the structure and features of the EAEU pharmacopoeia, the possibilities of drug design using in silico technologies, methods of heterocyclic compound synthesis, and quality control systems in industrial pharmacy. They participated in a master class on "Pharmacopeial Requirements for Ensuring the Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety of Medicines", where they gained a deeper understanding of the importance of pharmacopoeial standards.
At the end of the practice, results were summarized, and certificates of completion of the practice at the SKMA base were awarded to the students. This practice contributed to the enhancement of their professional skills and was an important step in the formation of future qualified specialists.

During the practice, the students also had the opportunity to visit the historical and cultural landmarks of the city of Shymkent and explored its social and scientific infrastructure. The trainees expressed their sincere gratitude to the Rector of the Academy, Zh. S. Seitzhanova, for providing excellent conditions for the practice, the powerful equipment of the department, and the excellent living conditions!
