
On November 28, 2025, at the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology, an informational and educational event was held with the student groups ВМ-МҚқА,Б -01-24, ВМ- МПД А,Б 01-25 және ВМ- МПДО-01-25, ВМ- МШАБ-05-23, dedicated to December 1 – World AIDS Day.
Purpose of the event:
• To increase students’ knowledge about the prevention of the HIV/AIDS epidemic;
• To foster a culture of responsible attitude toward health;
• To explain the importance of avoiding risky behavior;
• To prevent stigma and discrimination;
• To promote an attitude of support for people living with HIV.
During the event, the students presented a video about a survey of city residents regarding HIV infection, routes of transmission, and preventive measures.
Students from groups ВМ-МҚқА -01-24 and ВМ- МША-05-23, Kh. Rakhmankulov and Yahya Nazir, presented presentations on HIV infection, routes of transmission and prevention measures, as well as on the importance of early testing.

The epidemiologist of the Shymkent City AIDS Center, T. A. Yesenbekov, explained to the students the difference between HIV and AIDS, the routes of transmission and preventive measures, the importance of antiretroviral therapy, as well as common mistakes and myths among young people. Information was provided on the HIV situation in the world and in Kazakhstan.
Participants asked questions and received detailed answers.

The young people who took part in the event received additional information about AIDS/HIV and learned about preventive measures. As a result, the participants’ level of awareness increased and their understanding of the consequences of risky behavior expanded. At the end of the event, volunteers underwent rapid testing for HIV antibodies.
