From 29 July to 29 August 2025, PhD students Magay L.N., Kudyarova S.A., and Mussayeva A.G. from the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA) completed a research internship at the Department of Public Health at Istanbul University. The internship was supervised by Associate Professor Meryem Merve Ören Çelik.
During the internship, the students mastered modern approaches to systematic reviews and meta-analysis, including the use of international standards PRISMA and PROSPERO. They studied methods for searching for scientific publications in leading databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library) and learned to perform statistical data analysis, including the calculation of OR, RR, and SMD indicators, as well as the creation of a forest plot.
The internship allowed the SKMA PhD students to enhance their research skills and expand their international scientific contacts. As a result, an agreement was reached on further academic cooperation between SKMA and Istanbul University, which was confirmed by an official letter of gratitude to the Rector of SKMA.
