Research internship at the research center of the pharmacy department of SKMA JSC

From November 26 to December 1, 2025, at the Pharmacy Research Center of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, as part of project AP26101537 “Sustainable management and conservation of the gene pool of rare and economically valuable species of natural flora in the Kazakh part of the Kungey Alatau ridge,” the head of the “Flora and Plant Resources” laboratory of the Astana Botanical Garden, a branch of the RSE “Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction” of the Forestry and Wildlife Committee Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as project manager K. S. Izbastina and project implementer Abash A. S., completed a research internship.

The scientific practice was conducted in accordance with the internship plan and the main areas of activity of the laboratory:
- Identification and study of unexplored and promising plants in the flora of Kazakhstan;
- Development of promising methods for isolating biologically active compounds from plant material;
- Study of the chemical composition of biologically active compounds from plant material;
- Preparation of medicinal forms based on medicinal plants of Kazakhstan.

During the internship, specialists from both institutions worked together to analyze, exchange methodologies, and conduct comparative assessments of research results. The findings served as a basis for developing joint research projects in the coming period, improving research methods, and strengthening sustainable scientific cooperation between the two institutions.


The results obtained determined the effectiveness of cooperation and its important role in the development of fundamental and applied research. In this regard, taking into account previous fruitful experience and mutual scientific interest, it is planned to establish scientific cooperation between institutions. The possibility of updating the joint work plan, expanding research areas, organizing new internships, exchange trips, and integrated scientific projects was considered.

A long-term and effective partnership will be established, aimed at achieving significant results, strengthening scientific ties in the field of plant resource conservation and the development of pharmaceutical research.
