Round Table on "Improving Educational Programs" Organized by the Department of Family Medicine

In order to enhance the quality of educational programs for the "General Practitioner" track at the internship level, the Department of Family Medicine at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA) organized a round table on the topic "Improving Educational Programs." The event was attended by leading healthcare professionals: Chief Physician of City Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 2 and member of the Shymkent City Maslikhat, Mr. Bakhytzhan Zholdasbekovich Pazylov; Chief Physician of City Polyclinic No. 7 of Shymkent, PhD Dr. Nurlan Smadiyarovich Zhanabayev; Head of the Center for Practical Skills of SKMA, Mr. Nurlan Zhumanovich Kalmenov; Head of the Methodological Department, Ms. Bakhyt Muratovna Rasheva; Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Mr. Zhumaly Aripbayuly Kauyzbay; along with faculty members and top interns.
To improve the quality of educational programs for both the internship level in "General Practice" and the residency level in "Family Medicine," the following resolution was adopted based on the questions and proposals discussed during the round table:
1. Introduce the elective course "Medical Psychology in General Practice" into the curriculum to foster psychological resilience and communication competence among general practitioners.
2. To enhance the clinical competence and practical skills of interns and residents, address the issue of involving residents and faculty staff in supplementary clinical work to increase patient access.
3. To improve the acquisition of practical skills among interns and residents, make extensive use of all capabilities of the SKMA Center for Practical Skills and simulation-based training technologies.
4. Improve assessment methods of interns’ and residents’ knowledge by evaluating clinical and scientific competencies as well as practical skill levels.
