At the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, and Neurosurgery, a presentation of a comprehensive scientific project by 5th-year students of groups ЖМҚА-03-21, ЖМҚБ-03-21, ЖМҚА-04-21 was held under the theme “Science. Education. Practice: A Comprehensive Project on Epilepsy.” The project was aimed at an in-depth study of epilepsy — one of the most relevant and socially significant conditions in modern neurology.
The students presented up-to-date information on the classification of epilepsy, its etiological factors, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and diagnostic methods. Key approaches to treatment were discussed, including medication strategies, modern therapeutic possibilities, and principles of patient management.
The practical part of the project included an interactive Kahoot game, rapid-fire quizzes, as well as a demonstration of a generalized tonic–clonic epileptic seizure model using a student volunteer, followed by a detailed explanation of the first aid algorithm. This format helped students reinforce theoretical knowledge and develop skills essential for clinical practice.
As part of the project, an informational brochure on epilepsy was prepared. It included data on symptoms, common myths and facts about epilepsy, and recommendations for providing first aid. The material is intended for students, future physicians, and the general public.
The scientific and methodological guidance for the project was provided by the faculty of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, and Neurosurgery:
• Associate Professors: Mustapaeva G.A., Erkebaeva S.K., Polukchi T.V.
• Assistants: Tolebaeva G.E., Yesetova A.A., Musaeva S. K.. Ramanova G.B.
The instructors actively supported the students, offering consultations on theoretical and practical issues, helping structure scientific materials, and guiding them in preparing their presentations.
The project became a significant contribution to the educational activities of the department, demonstrated the high level of student preparation, and helped develop important professional competencies necessary for work in the field of clinical neurology.
