Science, innovation and team spirit: international poster competition at the academy

The Department of Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Chemistry of the Academy organized the 4th International Poster Competition "Innovative Ideas of Young Researchers" with the participation of partner universities.
The competition welcomed undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students from pharmaceutical universities in India: the College of Pharmacy (Ooty), the Academy of Higher Education & Research (Mysore), the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow, Russia), the St. Petersburg State Chemical-Pharmaceutical University (St. Petersburg, Russia), the Bashkir State Medical University (Ufa, Russia), the I. K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), the Tashkent Institute of Education and Research (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), and the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.

The competition's goal was to showcase the achievements of young scientists in pharmaceutical research. The research papers presented by the participants covered a wide range of topics: innovative pharmaceutical technologies, development of new drugs, studies of the molecular actions of drugs, in silico design of several new derivatives of pharmaceutically active substances, standardization of drugs and herbal raw materials, docking analysis of the pharmacological activity of drugs, current issues in pharmaceutical ecology, the results of the cascade implementation of project-oriented work by specialized departments of the SKMA Faculty of Pharmacy, as well as the chemical and toxicological analysis of toxic compounds.

The event was held in a hybrid format - in person and via Zoom for international participants. A total of 45 poster presentations were submitted. All materials were sent in advance to the jury, which included recognized experts in the fields of medicine and pharmacy..

The posters were evaluated based on a number of criteria: relevance and purpose of the research, scientific novelty and practical significance, the visual and substantive design of the poster, and the author's level of preparation—the ability to answer questions, present arguments, and conduct a scientific discussion. During the conference, participants actively interacted with the jury and the audience, answering questions and discussing their findings. After all presentations, the jury summarized the results and presented recommendations to the organizing committee. The moderators announced the competition results and the names of the winners. Each participant received a certificate indicating their supervisor, and the winners received Grand Prix, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place diplomas. During the break, a buffet table prepared by the department staff was provided. This program helped create an even more festive atmosphere and strengthen the bond between students and faculty, while also contributing to improved team spirit.

Following the event, participants and their supervisors expressed positive feedback, noting the forum's high level of organization and execution. A key feature of the competition was the dynamic and interactive atmosphere between the speakers, the jury, and the audience. Throughout the competition, posters were on display for the participants and jury members, who carefully examined the posters' content. The competition provided an excellent platform for presenting scientific ideas and projects, and also contributed to the development of public speaking skills and the effective use of digital technologies.
