SKMA Team at Shymkent Marathon 2025

The Shymkent Marathon was founded in 2015, and by 2018 it had already received official certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).More than 7,000 runners from 15 countries and 120 cities around the world registered to take part in the anniversary Shymkent Marathon 2025, which took place on September 14. Over ten years, the marathon  grown into one of the largest running events in the country. During its first two years, the marathon was perceived as a city-wide race under the slogan “13th Region – Together We Can Do Anything!” Today, the Shymkent Marathon is not only a vibrant mass race, but also an event that annually attracts a huge number of tourists and runners to Kazakhstan’s third-largest metropolis. Participants were offered six distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km races, as well as team relays and Nordic walking. A special highlight of the 2025 Marathon was its unique medal, weighing a record 200 grams and featuring a stunning design inspired by the solar disk — a symbol befitting Shymkent, recognized as the sunniest city in the country.

Shymkent Marathon has already become more than just a sporting event – it is a brand that promotes the ideas of a healthy lifestyle, mass sports, and sports tourism. At the starting line stood professional athletes as well as amateurs, students, schoolchildren, and entire corporate teams. Every year, this event turns into a true celebration of sports and energy: the vibrant atmosphere, musical accompaniment, and the support of fans and volunteers create a special motivation for every participant. The SKMA team wanted to demonstrate by their own example how important it is to promote running and an active lifestyle, to strengthen team spirit, to develop mass sports, and to foster a culture of health.
