Strengthening International Cooperation: SKMA at the II Forum of Rectors of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan

On April 6–8, 2026, a series of events aimed at enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan took place in Almaty. On April 6, the opening of the educational exhibition “Study in Azerbaijan” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, bringing together leading universities of Azerbaijan. The exhibition aimed to expand academic cooperation and raise awareness among students about opportunities for studying abroad.On the same day, the II Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was held at Innotech powered by Arizona State University. The Forum served as an important international platform for strengthening academic ties and fostering institutional collaboration. The Forum was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, and the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullayev, as well as rectors of leading universities from both countries. South Kazakhstan Medical Academy was represented by Rector Zhanna Serikzhanovna Seitzhanova, Vice-Rector for Science and Strategic Development Nurlan Erdenovich Aukenov, and Head of the Department for the Development of Joint Educational Programs Dana Auyezkhankyzy.

During the Forum, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nakhchivan State University (Republic of Azerbaijan). The signing of the Memorandum marks an important step in strengthening international cooperation and establishing long-term academic and research collaboration between the institutions.

The agreement outlines key areas of cooperation, including:

  • academic mobility of students, residents, and faculty members;
  • joint research projects and educational events;
  • organization of clinical training and internships;
  • exchange of experience in educational and administrative practices.

South Kazakhstan Medical Academy continues to expand its international partnerships, creating new opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers, and strengthening its position in the global academic community.
