The 6th Congress of Clinical Pharmacologists of Kazakhstan was held

On 22–23 October 2026, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy hosted the VI Congress of Clinical Pharmacologists of Kazakhstan with international participation, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organised by the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology.

The Congress brought together scientists, clinical pharmacologists, practising physicians, educators and representatives of professional associations from Kazakhstan, CIS countries and other countries near and far. Participants included specialists from Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and the United States. Sessions were held both in person and online, enabling broad international collaboration and the exchange of professional experience.

The Congress opened with welcoming remarks from Zhanna Serikzhanovna Seitzhanova, Rector of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy. Timur Muratovich Muratov, Vice Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, also addressed the participants with a welcome message.

The plenary session featured presentations on the implementation of pharmacogenetic testing, improvements in medicines policy, personalised medicines provision, and the development of pharmacovigilance and clinical research. Particular attention was given to patient safety, medication risk management and the use of digital technologies in clinical practice.

The scientific sessions covered three main areas: rational antimicrobial therapy in the context of global resistance to anti-infective medicines; rational pharmacotherapy in clinical practice; and the management of safe pharmacotherapy and hospital medicines provision using artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

An important part of the programme was the Young Researchers Competition, which brought together students, residents and early-career researchers. Their presentations addressed medicine efficacy and safety, rational antibiotic use, pharmacoeconomics and the optimisation of medicines provision. A round-table discussion explored the topic “Skin Testing Before Antibiotic Administration: A Safety Standard or a Practice Requiring Reconsideration?”

The Congress provided an important platform for sharing research findings and practical experience, strengthening international professional ties, and discussing the future development of clinical pharmacology and clinical pharmacy in Kazakhstan.
