On February 12, 2026, as part of the educational process, the next interuniversity discussion roundtable (NSO) for general practice interns (GPI) was held online. The event was attended via the online platform by 6th- and 7th-year GPI interns and academic supervisors from NAO “Astana Medical University,” JSC “South Kazakhstan Medical Academy,” NAO “Karaganda Medical University,” and NAO “Semey Medical University.”
At this interuniversity roundtable, a very interesting and relevant topic was discussed: “Diagnosis, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Osteoporosis.” From the “General Practice Physician-2” department, the following 6th-year GPI intern groups participated: ІЖТДО-19-25, ІЖТДК-13-25, ІЖТДК-16-25, ІЖТДК-18-25, and ІЖТДО-22-25.
Under the scientific supervision of Master of Medical Sciences Smetova R.A. from the “GPI-2” department, interns of the ІЖТДО-19-25 group, Alibekova Zh.R. and Baymhan A.K., presented a report titled “Etiopathogenesis, Epidemiology, and Classification of Osteoporosis”.
During the roundtable, presenters Alibekova Zh.R. and Baymhan A.K. provided a detailed overview of the current issues concerning the etiology and pathogenesis of osteoporosis. Additionally, drawing on research from both distant and neighboring countries, they presented an analytical review of recent studies highlighting the relevance of osteoporosis and contemporary approaches to the use of disease classifications worldwide, including in Kazakhstan.

The interns also attended presentations by representatives from other universities, which covered topics such as clinical manifestations, the latest diagnostic methods, modern treatment strategies, as well as issues related to prevention and rehabilitation.
Following the presentations, a lively discussion unfolded, during which the interns and university lecturers asked questions, exchanged opinions, and shared their own experiences in observing patients with osteoporosis. This discussion contributed to deepening the participants’ knowledge, developing clinical reasoning, and fostering the professional competencies of future general practitioners.
The event took place in an atmosphere of scientific curiosity and collaboration among representatives of various medical universities and facilitated the exchange of experiences among interns. It stimulated professional discussion and allowed participants to expand their knowledge on the management of patients with osteoporosis. In addition, the event contributed to the development of interns’ research and communication skills, fostered interest in scientific work, and encouraged independent study of relevant clinical topics.
