
On February 24, 2026, the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines, together with the students of group BM-SKAB-03-24, organized a roundtable discussion entitled “The Civic Voice in Journalism: The School of Temirbek Kozhakeev” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished Kazakhstani journalist and scholar-researcher Temirbek Kozhakeev. The purpose of the event was to promote the scholarly legacy of the outstanding representative of Kazakhstani journalism and academic scholarship, Temirbek Kozhakeev; to determine the significance of the school he established; and to discuss the relevance of the principles of civic journalism within the contemporary media landscape. The participants examined Kozhakeev’s scholarly and journalistic works, highlighted their role in the development of the satirical genre, and engaged in debates. As part of the roundtable, a special exhibition of the scholar’s works was organized, featuring archival materials and publications. Academic presentations were also prepared and delivered.
