The final stage of the emergency conditions competition among students was held at SKMA JSC

On March 31, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy JSC hosted the final stage of the traditional emergency medicine competition among students on the basis of the Practical Skills Center. The competition was organized by the Department of Emergency Medicine and Nursing.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Emergency medicine and nursing, PhD, associate professor Aizat Ashimkhanovna Seydakhmetova opened the competition with a welcoming speech. She noted the importance of practical training of students, improving emergency medical care skills and developing clinical thinking among future medical professionals. 
The final stage was attended by 3 teams of 5th year students specializing in General Medicine. The competition was held in several stages, including greeting teams, solving situational tasks for emergency medical care, conducting extended cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as well as a quiz on emergency conditions.

During the competition, participants demonstrated knowledge and practical skills in providing assistance in various emergency conditions, including injuries, bleeding, poisoning, anaphylactic shock, laryngeal stenosis, as well as skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Special attention was paid to the correctness of the algorithms for emergency care, practical skills and teamwork.
The work of the contestants was evaluated by a competent jury, which included Almas Aldeshev, professor of the department, anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist of the highest category, Nurlan Kalmenov, head of the Center for Practical Skills, emergency medicine expert, and Zhanat Sultanova, one of the most experienced teachers of the department, pediatrician of the highest category. The jury members evaluated the theoretical training of the participants, the correctness of the implementation of algorithms for emergency medical care, practical skills, clinical thinking and teamwork.
According to the results of the competition, the winners and prize-winners were determined. Conducting such competitions helps to increase the level of practical training of students, the development of clinical thinking, the formation of professional competencies and the preparation of future specialists for emergency medical care.
