On December 4, 2025, under the guidance of Dinara Sabyrzhanovna Narzullayeva, Assistant of the Department of Family Medicine, an educational and morally enriching lecture was organized for the medical interns of group IJTDQ 16-24 on the topic “The Indomitable Spirit – A Light on the Path of Medicine.”
In today’s information-driven society, adolescents often face various psychological and social risks. Among them, drug addiction and gambling (gaming) addiction have become pressing issues that significantly affect students’ health, psychological stability, and future personal development. Therefore, forming safe behavior, developing online self-protection skills, and explaining the harm of gaming addiction are important preventive directions.

Purpose of the Lecture
• To explain the early signs of gambling and drug addiction, as well as ways to prevent them;
• To develop a culture of protecting one’s rights and seeking help;
• To provide adolescents with moral guidance regarding courage, perseverance, and responsibility;
• To emphasize the importance of creating a healthy psychological environment.
During the lecture, students were presented with a report covering the following topics:
1. The Danger of Drug Addiction
• Types of drugs and their effects on the body;
• Rapid development of addiction and difficulties in overcoming it;
• Legal responsibility and life-threatening consequences;
• Drug prevention and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
2. Gambling (Gaming) Addiction and Its Prevention
• The psychological mechanism of gambling addiction;
• Dangers of computer and gambling game addiction;
• Early signs (loss of time, poor academic performance, aggression, decreased interests);
• Impact on health, brain function, and social life;
• Methods to prevent addiction;
• Information on effective ways to organize free time.

During the lecture, real-life examples were shown using special slides. Students actively participated, expressed their opinions, shared personal examples, and asked questions about cybersecurity and online games. An anonymous survey was conducted, revealing the level of gaming addiction among the students.
The lecture fully achieved its purpose by broadening students’ understanding of psychological safety and teaching them responsibility, resilience, and the ability to protect themselves from risks.
Open discussion of complex issues such as drug abuse and gambling addiction positively contributed to developing self-protection skills and healthy habits.
The lecture promoted the development of students’ moral qualities, emotional self-control, support for others, and motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Participants realized the seriousness of the consequences of addiction and developed a heightened sense of responsibility. Many noted that they gained new information on the prevention of gambling and drug addiction and found such lectures beneficial.
The school administration plans to continue preventive activities in this direction. Additionally, steps will be taken to organize students’ free time more effectively and to promote the development of sports and creative clubs.
