Training at the Department of Pediatrics-2

As part of the academic mobility program of South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA), fourth-year students enrolled in the BM086 – Medicine educational program at the Non-Profit Joint-Stock Company «Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University» arrived at the Department of Pediatrics-2 on October 13, 2026, to study the discipline of «Childhood Diseases».

The visiting students participating in the academic mobility program were welcomed by the Head of the Department, Professor G.E. Bektenova, and the department’s academic staff.

The aim of the academic mobility program is to expand students’ educational opportunities and horizons, improve the quality of education, develop professional and intercultural competencies, and promote the active acquisition of clinical skills.

During the practical sessions, particular attention was paid to childhood diseases, their diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Associate Professor F.D. Khatamov introduced the students to the Regional Children’s Hospital and its departments.

Daily practical sessions were conducted in the Pediatrics-2, Oncohematology, and Nephrology departments and included patient case management in the admission department. In addition, to develop students’ clinical reasoning skills, the program included patient case discussions, clinical case-solving exercises, oral questioning, and assessment tests.

Academic mobility is an important educational tool that helps improve students’ knowledge, provides opportunities to gain practical experience, and contributes to the development of competitive healthcare professionals.
