An event titled “Forced Marriage and Stalking: Legal Awareness and Psychological Perspective” was organized at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.
Officers from the Al-Farabi District Police Department of the Shymkent City Police Department took part in the event. In particular, Senior District Police Inspector Captain A. Amirkhan, Police Major S. Baiseitov, and District Police Inspectors Captains Zh. Shakhalak and A. Sapi conducted legal awareness sessions for students. Law enforcement representatives explained, using specific examples, that forced marriage is an unlawful act, outlined citizens’ rights in such situations, and informed students where they can seek assistance.

During the meeting, special attention was given to the concept of “stalking,” including its types and characteristics. Stalking is the repeated harassment, surveillance, intimidation, or other intrusive behavior toward a person that causes psychological pressure. Specialists noted that such actions may occur not only offline but also through social media and messaging platforms. The issue of bullying was also addressed, emphasizing its negative impact on the psychological well-being of adolescents and young people.
Additionally, it was explained that one of the increasingly common crimes today is “dropper” fraud. Students were advised not to share their personal information with strangers and not to trust suspicious financial offers.
As part of the event, a psychological training session was conducted. Its purpose was to teach students how to make appropriate decisions in difficult situations, protect their personal boundaries, say “no,” and provide support to victims.
